Defleshed emerged from Sweden in the mid-90s, unleashing a furious blend of thrash, death metal, and grindcore that made them a vital force in the extreme metal underground. By 2005, after releasing five albums, the band disbanded, leaving fans demanding their return. In 2021, guitarist Lars Löfven, drummer Matte Modin, and bassist/vocalist Gustaf Jorde reunited, first recording two songs as a standalone single before committing to a full-length. The result was Grind Over Matter (2022), an explosive record of blistering intensity, proving Defleshed remained at the top of their game after 17 years away. Today, Defleshed continues to channel their trademark speed and aggression, blending thrash, death, and grind into a relentless sound that reaffirms their legacy as one of Sweden’s most powerful extreme metal acts.
